The reason I found this scene to be heart breaking was because this the final moment where she can hold on to her humanly emotions, as the constant flow of knowledge takes over she takes the time to say how much she loves her mom before she can no longer feel it.

This is so sad to me. It's the last scene where Lucy, the REAL Lucy, appears. She knows what's going to happen to her and she does this before the last shred of her humanity disappears. She knows it's the last time she'll have these human emotions and be able to really talk to her mom. This is basically a goodbye to her mom and her entire normal life.

She died and was reborn. Such a sweet scene

The last of her emotions. She is self aware that she is degrading as a human.

This was a massively underrated movie. They should make a sequel!

The last moment she could feel human emotions before moving to a stage where she feels no bonds/relationships. Many great saints like Buddha had to break those bonds to gather the knowledge they shared to humanity. Spiritual stuff :)

The only thing I feel in this scene is the pain. Both her physical and mental one. The feeling of the knife cut through the skin, the something get out of your belly. The feeling of getting through every knowledge, you realize theres little that you know about.

I was surprised at how many people this moment in the movie resonated with. This scene makes my heart heavy

aww this is so sad! she just wants to express how much she loves her parents before she cant feel it anymore :'(
but i can just imagine how awkward it was for the surgeons, especially the "I remember the taste of your milk in my mouth." XD

Lucy’s mom reminds me of my own mom when she talks to me. She always has the ability to calm me down with her voice and reassuring words. As now I wanna tell my mom how much I miss her kisses on my forehead every time I was getting home from school, and that I remember every scene with her as a child 😔🥰

This movie is more than 6 years old. But this scene struck a chord with me. It was the last time Lucy could feel human emotion and she told the last opportunity to abide farewell to her mom. After that, the real Lucy is dead. But her mom's final words to her were: "I love you too, sweetie". Isn't that the most beautiful *last* words to utter to your child?

Something similar happened to me after I woke up from a failed suicide attempt. I could feel the energy in the air, the earth rotating, the trees speaking like the blood rushing through my veins, like waking up inside a different body, as if someone had pressed the restart button. I’ve never felt and been the same since.

"Dad! I remember first developing in your left testicle! I remember so many others all crowding around me... all with the same goal! I remember moving through what felt like an endless tunnel! It was like a war zone and a race at the same time!"
