I've always insisted on going Dutch, I went on a date once and the guy insisted on paying for the whole meal, including drinks, I wasn't comfortable with it but I could tell he wasn't going to take no for an answer, we met up again after that and I played for him the whole date without him even knowing what was happening, he was very touched and I felt a lot better about myself, we dated for three years, lovely guy, didn't work out but I wish him well, I hope he is happy.

Who should pay is just based on the people involved. Some men enjoy the “chivalrous” approach to paying. Some women want to pay their own way.

Do what you all feel is appropriate. You can have the conversation up front if you want to. My suggestion is don’t expect to be paid for. If that is offered, then you may accept or decline. Neither party should be offended or taken aback.
