I was in Hurghada about one month before the shark attack happened and saw a big shark close to the hotel reef while snorkeling. I told the diving centre employees and they literally told me "no, there's no shark. There are no sharks here" like, dude, this is the ocean ofc there are sharks, how can they just ignore sth like this

I remember watching the full unedited version… absolutely horrifying hearing the young Russian tourist yelling out for his dad while he’s being eaten alive by a 14 ft tiger shark. Gave me nightmares for afew weeks. Rip a father should never have to see his son go that way

Vladimir Popov died on June 9th, the day after this video was allegedly taken I believe.
For them to have seen this shark and not said anything then led to the most horrific video I think I’ll never be able to unsee. His death haunts me.

Why did they not warn the people or close the beach😭 they were sure it's a tiger shark. IMHO this is an unforgivable mistake.

Everyone's complaining that the men should have warned the lifeguards abt the shark ...but how do you know they didnt?? According to some, it is known that there are sharks that freqient that area, but because of tourism, locals deny that there are any dangers.

reminds me of Disney years ago refusing to put up alligator warning signs around the lake that was swarming with huge gators. They didn't want to scare tourists away. Of course, a small child pays the ultimate price for their greed and stupidity whose parents were unaware of the serious danger

Tiger shark is a man eater. Second only to the great white. They have their own personalities like dogs. Most are cautious and avoid humans but some are aggressive. Ive had a couple close interactions, one was a 20 minute harrowing ordeal with a 18 foot monster with a head as wide as a VW. It approached us many times as we swam in back to back keeping it off with our spears... it seemed to enjoy scaring the shit out of us arching its back, pec fins down, and snapping its massive jaws. Ive never heard of any other sharks snapping their jaws at someone but this one did it several times and seemed to react to our panicked reactions. He couldve easily eaten us but its like he just wanted to fuck with us instead.... frikn magnificent bastard!

Seems to be a lot of out of touch people leading sheltered lives of blissful ignorance. It is the ocean/sea folks, there are sharks everywhere. Every time we enter the water we do so at our own risk. You can’t hate sharks for simply being sharks. Get over yourselves folks.

Really you believe the locals when they say no sharks here??! Wake up!! Sharks live in the ocean and they just go everywhere where they can find food, Hurghada or Israel or Australia it doesn’t matter.
