This reminds me so much of Dark Willow. Behind all that magic she was never evil and was just in unimaginable pain in need of being told she’s loved no matter what. The control bit is like the ‘evil’ exterior and the pity party bit is like how in reality she was a victim, not just someone who woke up and chose to do all that stuff.
