Wanna know what I see? Prince didn’t reherse with the band because all he needed was the chords. Dhani cues Prince for the entrance, and Tom Petty conducts, letting Prince know when to cut loose and when to pull back. Prince tosses guitar at the end not in vanity, but respect for George Harrison being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He had his fun playing and didn’t need the glory on George’s night. That’s what I saw. I could never watch this enough.

This was Prince’s response to being snubbed by Rolling Stone Magazine’s top 100 guitarists. He certainly proved his point here. And the strutting off stage at the end. Priceless.

I love George Harrison sons smile as he stands unashamedly in awe watching Prince solo. Not trying to look cool. Just being real. Everyone on that stage is a class act and they all contrived to make the space for that genius Prince iconic moment.

I was lucky enough to see Hendrix many years ago and Prince just like him makes you believe that the guitar is an extension of his body. Brilliant.

Today is July 7th 2024 and I searched for this because I just needed the energy that Prince"s solo on THIS performance can only give!! I have watched this countless times thru out the years and to read the comments and see how many of us have come to this very performance recently truly shows the power of music!! There shall never be another Prince Rogers Nelson 💜 sleep on great one you are truly missed by so many still here!!
