Living with roommates is so hard...I had a similar situation with my freshman year roommate...I stayed in the room but she stopped talking to me and just partied and went to her friends dorm so I basically had the room to myself which was nice. Hope the transition helps you love dorm life a bit more than before 💕

Many international students from China are only children in their families so most of the time they lack the skills to socialize with people of their generation. Also, cultural difference and language barrier can put international students in an awkward situation, especially when they need to learn a lot of things from the very beginning in a host country. I'm sorry that you couldn't vibe with your Chinese roommates but I'd like to mention that Chinese international students may have difficulty finding authentic Chinese food in a small town in the US so the only way to eat their home food is to cook by themselves. Also, home bug is an extremely uncommon issue for Chinese people for some reason. I never knew what a bed bug looks like until going to school in Texas and then I learned more about the bug problems from my American friends. So, honestly I feel that your ex-roommates don't even know how serious the issue is and they have limited experience with bugs. Anyways, hope you next roommate experience is great!

Syd, I had roommates in college like that too that we didn't talk. Eventually I had good ones too. In time you will find a good roomie and it will work out. Just start keeping a mental list of people you know that you think you can live with and don't be afraid to ask about their plans for next semester.

the exact same thing happened to me when I moved into my dorm at a new school. it’s super frustrating when you aren’t on the same page as the person you have to live for a year. my roommate was from a different country and the language barrier was extremely difficult. i completely understand and don’t blame you for moving and hope everything works out for you :)

i went to penn state my freshman year and i lived in west... my roommate wouldnt communicate at all with me and was literally the worst. so happy i rushed and moved to my sorority floor second semester. good luck to you :)
