In 1999, during the Seniors Hong Kong Tennis Tournament, the legendary John McEnroe, who had been dominating the seniors circuit, faced fierce competition from the mercurial Frenchman, Henri Leconte. Their previous encounters were intense, but this round-robin clash would prove to be their most heated yet. In a match that nearly boiled over into a physical altercation, the tension between these two tennis icons was palpable.

I was there to cover it all, capturing the drama as it unfolded. Here's a look back at one of the most fiery matches of the seniors tour.

2 older guys still bringing the heat on the court and in verbal parrying - what could be better entertainment ?
But if one considers just the the unfortunately for Henri - it's a shut-out : 10-0 for John.

Leconte has always been goofy and ridiculous. You never cross the net, ever.

Wake me when Leconte has ever threatened in a major. Dude is a French clown. And not even the first.

Leconte isn't fit to tie John's laces. Leconye had 1 shot at one grand slam and bottled it in front of his home fans. A clown 🤡
