Wow, hearing Jackie DeShannon takes me right back to AM radio in the late 60's. Thanks again Harri, be well.

Simply beautiful! Thank you Hal David and Burt Bacharach! Your timeless songs will live on until the end of time. Classy selection and reaction -- thank you, Clint and Harri!

I heard this song when I was about five or six years old. I loved it then, and still love it now.❤

Bert Bachrach and Hal David are often overlooked. They were in fact some of the best composers of the 60/70's.

Totally agree, a beautiful timeless song start to finish. Loved it back then, still do. Put a little Love in yr Heart by Jackie is great also. Great singer, should of been more successful.

Yes! I'm so glad you got around to finally reviewing this great great song. In fact, one of the greatest pop songs ever recorded. Jackie DeShannon released this version in 1965 and it would wind up as the background song of the closing scene for the movie, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice in 1969.

Jimmy Page and Jackie DeShannon met in England in 1963 when she shared the bill with The Beatles on a UK concert tour. Shortly thereafter they became involved and Jimmy, who was already a busy session man as a teenager in London recording studios, went to Los Angeles with Jackie to play on her newest album. In L.A. and through Jackie's contacts, Jimmy first heard The Byrds and other bands in the emerging folk-rock scene. They broke up after a couple of years -- the transatlantic thing wasn't working out -- but Jimmy wrote several songs about her, including "Tangerine" on Led Zeppelin's third album in 1970. Thanks Clint and Harri.

Quintessential Bacharach song. Undoubtedly he also did the arranging and directing. You can hear him all over this. Bacharach ruled the 60s. Unfortunately the train went a bit off the tracks for him in the 70s when he wrote the music for a retelling of the Lost Horizons classic. The critics savaged him for this and he seemingly went into hiding. It would be a decade or so before he began to get the recognition he richly deserved. The Austen Powers movies didn't hurt, and they reintroduced his genius to a whole new generation.

She was the first singer-songwriter of the emerging rock and roll coming down the tracks. I agree with Harri's eloquent commentary about the song, her career, and a great vocalist. Very well done.

Great iconic song, originally recorded by Jackie D. in 1965. Yes, it will always be relevant, I believe. Thanks for the fantastic request, Clint, and for your reaction, Harri B

From 1965, a beautiful Burt Bacharach, Hal David collaboration delivered by Jacky DeShannon to perfection making Number 7 in the US and Number 1 in Canada. Turned down originally by Dionne Warwick as she felt it was too country, she later recorded it, with success also.
I was lucky enough to see Jacky in 1964 while she toured with The Beatles, such a powerful delightful voice.
The beautiful waltz tempo, the orchestral excellence so grand, with the slow percussion, explodes with major and minor chords performances, with the perfect pitch to express the beautiful lyrics. A masterpiece.Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Beautiful Clint, magnifico👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
