why not just high speed directly to Southern cross station? given that’s where 95% of people will be going. would only take 10-15 minutes then….

all the complaining in the comments is hilarious, probably why it hasn't been built for 50 years, keep it classy Melbourne. Sydney will have 2 international airports both with rail links before Melbourne has 1 ;)
