So clearly we missed the mark on this one. The reason is it was extremely difficult finding clips that fit the topic, and were copyright free/licensable. I emailed multiple different channels asking to license their footage to no avail. Finally, I was able to put together a list of 5 and honestly, was pretty pleased with it. I thought, and still think, these videos are pretty dope and the waves pretty damn big, but clearly that's not the general consensus. I have already begun work on a new video, and am taking far more time sourcing clips. I hope to make up for disappointing!

Thank you!

The nuclear wave was the only one I would call monster, the others were just another day on the sea

Wel as a sailor for 43 Years I didn’t see anything exceptional in this video. Just one other day at sea.

I work in a rehab hospital and most of our patients are elderly. I had a patient who was a deep sea professional fisherman. He had severe ptsd and terrible nightmares. We put it in his care plan, that if we saw him having a nightmare to wake him up, he really appreciated it. He told me he had seen things that were just insanely terrifying at sea.

I gave this a thumbs up because the title is very reasonable. These are, in fact, five massive waves, and they were indeed caught on camera.

The sea is both magnificently beautiful and horrifyingly scary at the same time

My grandfather always tells me a story about how when he was in the navy he had to take the destroyer (I think) through 30 foot waves

“After all, these battleships are built to withstand bullets and bombs”

Well it doesn’t take a genius to think a battleship will survive a bullet

Those were not monster waves. Monster waves (rogue waves, freak waves), especially in storms, are more like 20-30m (70 -100ft) tall, not 5m. More precisely, they are defined as waves whose height is more than twice the significant wave height, or twice the mean of the largest third of waves in a given sea state.

What we have here instead is "5 examples of some typically rough seas caught on camera". Or as my grandfather would say, "5m waves? Back in my day we called that Tuesday". Calling this footage "monster waves" is like calling dust devils "tornadoes" :(

My dad works in the trucking business and they work closely with containers and piers and they once had a container that was completely crushed and crumpled up like someone had smashed it like a can the ship had been hit with an 79ft wave.

While at sea I witnessed green water splashing over the bow of our ship. When I say green water, I'm not talking about wave crests, as in white water agitated spray. What I mean is that we were dipping into the sea itself, under the wave tops. The main deck at the bow was about 30 feet above sea level.

im a merchant seaman these waves in this video are baby waves, I routinely experience really big waves largest that I recall were average between 72-86ft waves during a 13hr period.! while more often almost every month a few days we come across waves that average between 25-35ft with surges of 35-45ft

I wonder how many animals died from the underwater nukes tests, and at what range did the shockwave maintain its deadly force?

This guy narrating should go to work for the msm. He’s great at sensationalizing the trivial details and deciding how “scared” people are without ever talking to them.

I’m really surprised that you didn’t use some of the rogue wave clips that I’ve seen before.
