How to LD! (Lincoln-Douglas Debate Tutorial)

I made this for my Senior Legacy project in my debate class & decided to upload it! Tijienene and Joe were super awesome to act in this for me. Tijienene's main debate event is LD, but we've also done PF together. Joe does Congress.

I am a novice debater and a senior I have my first tournament in two weeks I am so nervous

I'm in LD. Debate changed so- clarification. Value debates are stupid. You should always value morality. Your value criterion should be an action not "justice" so you could say "protecting autonomy" instead. Everything is allowed in LD if you have an impartial judge, not someone who intervenes and decides what can be run and can't. I love theory! There are actually only 2 rules set in stone:
1. Don't go over your speech time
2. Don't stab your oppenent. All other performance responses are fine.

Ld rules allow theory shell counter plan pretty much anything is allowed argument wise

If you are a novice do yourself a favor do not use utilitarianism as your criterion it is one of the most common criterion and many people will have cards against it trust me

I'm a novice and I'm horrible at writing cases. I have the intuition, but does that mean I'll get any better at LD? Has anyone else been hopeless while they were a novice then turned out great at debating?

That's tough. But I would do what you want your friend to do if you were in the same situation. Would you want to know if your significant other was cheating on you? I would! I mean, I'd rather here it from my boyfriend than from a third party, but still, I'd want to know. So, do what you feel is right. Personally, I value truth, even if it hurts.
