Credit to the tractor trailer driver for giving plenty of warning to everyone involved. Your action saved their lives. Thanks

To hear the terror in the tractor trailer drivers voice as he was approaching that bus made me tear up. Great evasive driving avoiding what could have been a tremendous tragedy.

It’s crazy how they want to give the CDL driver charges for brakes going out 😡. he’s doing his job, just listen to his fear he didn’t want to intentionally hurt anyone. If it wasn’t for drivers this country would fall apart

Credit to the tractor trailer driver for warning everyone and being able to maneuver through the vehicles during an extremely scary situation and also huge credit to the pickup truck for thinking fast and reversing to make a big enough gap for the truck

That tractor driver should not face any charges, you can hear it in his voice he was distressed and managed to avoid crashing into anyone or anything.

Both drivers should be given a medal for saving life regardless of what went wrong with the truck.

The "No no no no! " As he saw the school bus is hearthbreaking he would blame himself if only one kid was injured

I'm glad she kept the kids calm! When a kid asked what happened she said "You don't wanna know!" rather keeping them excited than scared.

As a CDL holder, this tractor trailer driver had excellent maneuvering navigating that tight gap. Thankfully he was able to eventually slow down to a stop, and no lives were lost.

To the man in the truck to have fast thinking to back up and to the tractor trailer driver you both are heroes in my eyes!

It's reassuring to see every driver in the video take the proper safety precautions so nobody gets hurt or killed. Between the trucker blaring the horn in the distance as a warning to the Mercedes driver pulling off the side of the road and to the Silverado backing up to give the trucker enough space to maneuver around the bus. If only every driver in the country could be this alert and precautionary, driving wouldn't be such a chore.

1:15 "Who was that?!"
"You don't wanna know."

10/10 response, I'm dead 🤣🤣💀

Credit to the trucker for being aware. Credit to the pick up truck driver! That was a situation where all were aware and they took action. I'll be shocked if the driver is pressed with charges.

Shout out to the Chevy driver AND the tractor driver for saving EVERYONE’s life. To even mention charges for the tractor driver is disrespectful and preposterous. Smh

The tractor trailer driver did the right thing in warning everyone. It's not his fault that the brakes went out

Mannn I can understand charges against the company, but the driver CLEARLY did all he could do in that situation so I would hate to see anything happen to him. Kudos to him for everyone being alive.

what charges? he averted a fucking crisis by smart thinking. If anything the trucking company should be investigated and charged accordingly.

Had that man not made the one critical calculation to back his truck into the vehicle behind him to make space, this would have been a totally different, tragic scenario.

Anyone that doesn't understand the mention of charges for the tractor trailer driver, understand this:
Before you drive your commercial vehicle, you are required to perform a Pre Trip Inspection. This means going around the vehicle, making sure everything is safe and in working order. Lights, tires, brakes, any components on the vehicle, all need to be functional and have a log that shows that you inspected it every single time you drive. One of the things you test is your brakes, and on big vehicles like this, typically that involves air brakes. You have to test that your air brakes don't lose air when held down, that they hold when applied, that they build pressure back up to the required PSI within a certain threshold, and that they stop smoothly without pulling to the left or right. Long downhill grades using only the brakes can cause brake fade or failure, which can cause a situation like this video. I know downshifting is an option that allows your transmission to help slow the vehicle, and I know engine braking is also an option, but my knowledge of engine brakes is limited since I only drive a school bus currently.
Just remember, 80, 000 pounds is a lot of weight and requires a lot of braking force to stop. Those brakes get hot, and they stop working as well.
Sorry for the long, all over the place, comment.

All of those drivers did well there. I love the veteran bus driver answering the kid: You don't want to know. That's right. You don't. The kids didn't know the danger they were in, and it won't cause issues now. I hope they figure out what went wrong with the brakes and check all of their trucks.
