This would be the ABSOLUTE DUMBEST THING THAT CAN BE DONE IN DETROIT.

Only Detroit would consider tearing down. It’s most iconic building on a skyline, leaving our skylines to look like something of a small city in Tennessee. Good grief what minds are even behind this? You’re talking hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars to tear it down, why doesn’t GM just give someone a sweetheart deal with that money or equivalent to it to redevelop it. GM has spent hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars renovating the place, new heating and cooling systems, new wiring infrastructure is all their, tons of parking in their lower level. Restaurants are all there, and the hotel with over 1000 rooms is the largest hotel in Detroit, in the city that is screaming for hotel rooms and is doing fine. They won’t be able to attract anything to the city without it. What kind of fools are even thinking about this?

These buildings are an iconic part of Detroit’s history. Are you kidding me? Would New York demolish the Empire State Building?!?

These people suffer from the delusion that if they tear something down something new and productive is going to occur

The Ren-Cen should be preserved for historical purposes IMO. It's a great example of 70's architecture. I feel that maybe it could be used for housing.

Every time I go to Detroit, the Renaissance Center is always the 1st thing I look for, it's as much a part of the Detroit skyline as the Arch is to St Louis, the Willis Tower to Chicago, The World Trade Center to New York City, the Space Needle to Seattle, the Eiffel Tower to Paris

Are you kidding? That is outrageous. This has got to be the most iconic building in all of Michigan and is instantly recognizable. This is a totally functional building and extremely well maintained and why is this even a thought? Leave this place alone as its way too iconic and special to lose. We've already lost enough places as it is over the past several decades. The RenCen is of the same era as the WTC in Manhattan with its towers right on the waterfront. The new tower at Hudson's is no way anything special or iconic when compared to the RenCen, sorry but that new tower is not!

People should protest massively over this. This is our symbol for Detroit.

Before it was GM’s headquarters. The center column of the Renaissance Center was a hotel. I stayed there a number of times in the early 90’s. The view of Detroit at night was spectacular.

There is no puzzle. The Resistance Center is the heart of Detroit. That news guy needs to be fired for suggesting that it be torn down "as something old". I would Renovated, and move city hall there.

Let's hope it's not gone. My deceased brother was a construction worker that helped build the Ren Cen.

Don’t do it! That would be destroying the skyline of Detroit! The architecture of that building is amazing!

Don’t be like Vegas by tearing down your most historic skyscrapers

That should never be torn down. It’s a landmark. There’s got to be many good uses for it it’s beautiful.

That building is a staple, you recognize Detroit by that building alone and it was there before GM, leave our Renaissance please!

No way. Revamp the programs going on at the Ren Cen. Put in theatres, bring back the special occasion, and Halloween parties hosted by the radio stations. That was the best!
