Shakira is set to stand trial for tax fraud. On Tuesday, a Spanish judge ordered the tax evasion case against the pop singer to trial, according to AP. The publication reports that attorneys for the prosecution are seeking a hefty fine and an eight-year prison sentence if she is found guilty. Shakira has continued to deny any wrongdoing, allegedly saying she has already paid what she owed, with interest, per AP. Access Hollywood reached out for comment but has yet to hear back.

Moral of the story: if you are a celebrity, don’t move to Spain

For example, when my ex-husband sold his mother's house after she passed away. He told me that he was going to wire transfer the $220, 000 to El Salvador and deposit the money under his brother's name. Because he said that he did Not want to pay the taxes on the property. I told him to Not do it because eventually the government would find out about it sooner or later. Of course he did not listen to me and he did it anyway. I know that when his mother passed away, the house became his inheritance but I still believed back then and still believe today that it was very wrong to hide the money in a different country.
He was still supposed to pay the taxes on his mother's property but he was and still is a lier, theaf, abuser, and corrupt man. Oh well!
