This week's Talks Tips and Tricks features our OT, Nicole, covering the vestibular system - one of our eight sensory systems! The vestibular system is responsible for recognizing when our body is in motion! When this system is out of sync, your child could either be over or under-responsiveness to vestibular input. Tune in to the video to find out the difference between over and under-responsiveness, and what you can do to support the vestibular system at home!

If you have any questions about the vestibular system and supporting your child, fill out our initial inquiry form (found below)! We have trained occupational therapists at our Durham and Cary locations who would love to be a part of your team!

Thanks. I had never heard of this! Is there any info for teens who might have this? My adopted teen has adhd, anxiety and APD. She was very active as a child, very coordinated in sports and earned a black belt in Taekwondo in the 8th grade. Now she is not active, doesn’t leave the house much, and complains of nausea, dizziness often. Can vestibular issues develop later (after childhood)?
