Here's a brief explanation of how they work. You have two hooks attached with webbing straps to the inside of each leg, one by your ankle and one by your knee. The “ladder” is thin webbing with some metal rings sewn every foot or so. You step up by hooking with your legs into the metal rings. The main advantage to this is you can step a lot higher and be in better balance then you can in normal aid ladders.

They seem more secure however the lining up of the holes and hooks seems like it would be a chore... Constantly having to look down and if you miss... IDK I do want to try these.
