looks great, I am about to dive into a project like this. I noticed in your cabinet cutout you just have a channel piece alone the bottom. I have seen some that put small stud peices on the ends. do you think just the channel piece is enough to hold the panel or cabinet?

Did you not need to waterproof your Permabase? I see you didn’t use the WP version. Need help since I’m almost ready to start adding the concrete board.

Can you place the bbq directly on the cement board ? Making a outdoor fire pit and was thinking of using Cement board and porcelain tile and dropping the fire pit pan on top.

Question for you on the doors and drawers. What height from floor are they?

Thanks for producing the videos! Regarding the cutouts for the BBQ, Access Door and Drawers... On the BBQ... first I assume that if the cutout depth is 8.5" that you frame subtracting the 1/2" for the concrete board, and I am subtracting 2.25" for the concrete top. So... the actual framed cutout depth is 5.75" is that correct? On the width and height for everything else... if the width is say 30 5/8" for the BBQ to you add an extra 1/8" or keep it to the 30 5/8"? I don't want it to be so tight that the BBQ wont slip in, or to large that it fall thru.

Hi Eddie. Great video and awesome job! I am using Durock as a base for my countertop as well and it comes out about 7 inches (not flush like yours). Once the cement cures and I remove the wooden supports, do you know if the cement would have bonded with the Durock? If not, I was thinking of removing it along the outer edges once the cement countertop had cured. Any advice would be great!

Great video! You mention shimming to level everything. Where did you use the shims? Under the cement board or between the composite board and the frame? Were they wood shims?

Great videos and the project looks great! One question. How did you attach the back stud that sits horizontally at the back of the grill? I see it spans the opening but I can’t tell how it’s attached. Thanks!

Looks great. Did you Stucco directly on the backer board for the rear? If so, what kind did you use? Thanks!

Do you have to use a cement board to build a wooden Bbq Island? It is an electric Grill so can I just build the Island out of wood.
