Academy Award-nominated actor Jesse Eisenberg is working with The Humane Society of the United States to speak out about the inhumane treatment of exotic birds.

Buying captive bred birds in the US or in Europe has nothing to do with the "decimation" of these birds in the wild - the two are unrelated. Many wild parrots are seriously threatened by trade, but the demand is from the Middle East and Asia.

Captive birds in the west have major welfare issues, but these are being solved with education and proper management.

Let's hope Jesse's interest in parrots will help lead the makers of Rio2 to actually support the real conservation of wild parrots!
