What happened to SPIRIT the stallion's father

Where was Spirit the stallion of the Cimarron father in the movie? We don't really see him make an appearance in the movie but why is this? What happened to him

I actually watched SPIRIT as a kid before and I still love the movie now

My theory is, that Strider was captured shortly after Spirt was born, or sometime around before the winter where spirit gets his tongue stuck on ice, Think about it, all the horses at the army knew who Spirt was, as if they recognized who he was, likely that when strider was captured that some of his herd was as well, horses have good memory of their herd members. Esperanza, cried to spirit when he was captured, more likely that she was there when her mate and herd members were also captured. You can tell she was fearful once more, crying and tempting to get him, but couldn’t because she knew she had to take care of the herd once more, again.

There's a theory that Spirit's father died and reincarnated in the eagle that accompanies him in almost the entire movie.

I theorize that Strider went through the same thing Spirit went through, being taken by the army and broken.
Spirit's mother Esperanza (Which means Hope in Spanish, and like Spirit being a free spirit, she is very hopeful for her son to come back) was under extreme duress when he was being taken.
It's possible that the same thing happened with Strider, and Hope didn't want the same thing to happen to her son, which explains how he could be listed as dead, probably dying by being shot or exhaustion.

As a kid, I always thought that the horse the colonel was riding when Spirit jumped over the canyon was his dad. But I only thought that because that horse looked so proud when Spirit jumped.

I don't know why but everytime I see this horse I think of Dances With Wolves and I believe that horse was Spirit's Father sad ending for that horse 😢

I couldn’t stop watching Spirit when I was a kid. The songs were so fitting in every scene and I was actually jamming to some of them 😂

My theory is his dad just passed of old age. If I remember the fandom said his name was Strider and he was a black stallion. Which makes sense. But spirit is based on the ACTUAL HORSE that is a kiger mustang who is still alive and well. So my guess is that his father just simply passed on.

Kathleen Duey did write the official novelization for the movie, in fact that was the first of the series of books that go into the stories of the ancestors of Rain and Spirit. And I know that book exists because I found it in my high school library many years after the movie came out XD Never found the sequel books unfortunately, but they are considered canon I believe. And no, the movie is not based on the book series, they were written in conjunction with the film (nor is the movie based on the life of the horse they used as inspiration - they just used him as the model for Spirit because they liked how he looked, and based the other characters on RL horses too).

I was born on the exact day that this movie came out and I was obsessed with the movie ever Since my parents bought it for me because I loved horses, I never knew why but I did. When I watched it it almost felt like I was in the story. Years later when I was 13, my dad took me to see the real life spirit that they used for the movie. When I had gotten there he was in a pasture and there were all these people here. He turned toward me and he came up to me. He let me pet him as if we had been friends for years and it did feel like that. Then a worker came up to me and told me he has never done something like this before. She then saw our connection and let me lead him to his stall and feed him. I like to think he and this movie has helped shape who I am since before I was born.

This was my very 1st animated movie I ever watched, got my liking horses and animals in general
