Here is a follow up to my review on the Radiascan 701A and my opinions on similar digital geiger counters.

Love your collection man. I have a se international radiation alert ranger, Mazur prm 9000, GQ GMC 600+, radiascan 701a, radex 1503+ outdoor edition, radex one, and a ecotest terra P+. Would never get rid of any of them! I may splurge and get the radex 1008 next.

Here we are in 2023, (great video btw)... The price of the TerraP+ is ~ £250, whereas the GMC 500+ is currently £135. Would you still choose the TerraP over the GMC ?

I just purchased a gmc-500 non plus, has anyone had any reviews or problems with that model? I'm also gonna buy a Terra P black model soon if I can find one in the USA market, only Terra models iv found are on eBay but shipping from kiev, Ukraine and don't wanna take a chance on it never coming if something else happens over there. But any info on the gmc 500 non plus would be very much appreciated, thanks!!!

Price-wise GMC-600+ and Radiascan 701A are close and Radiascan wins for the extra rigidity, compactness, and software capabilities. However if it is possible to find, the GMC-600(non-plus) also does alpha and might be the cheapest alpha-capable meter out there, except for those DIY kits.

When comparing the RadiaScan to the GMC600 you should also consider that the latter has a more then double size window!

I want to test for radioactive particles in food from Fukushima. Should I be testing for Alpha, Beta and Gamma rays ?

I was conflicted between getting the Terra P+ or the Terra Professional (black) solely based on the advertised range (5mSv vs 10mSv); but if you've had no problem reaching 10mSv on the Terra P which is rated for only up to 1mSv, do you think the Terra P+ will suffice and I should save my money rather than going for the Terra Professional?

I can't really say I like the GMC 500+. It feels plasticy and breaks easily.
