2.2.2 :Kevin, when counting the sum of the positions, you forgot to account for the fact that there are 2 branches on possition 2 from the left and 5 from the right. And because 5+2+3+5 =15, while 2+2+4+5=13 the left side naming would give you a lower sum. You are supposed to name it from the left side because the total sum of the numbers is less from the left than for the right, and the logic behind it has nothing to do with the position of the fuctional group.

in question 2.2.1 is it not 2-bromo-2, 4, 5-trimethylhexane because technically the branch numbers would be higher if you wrote it from right to left as you'd have 2 branches on the 5th carbon? like i get your point of what a textbook would say, but at the end of the day its the memo that passes us?
