I never want electric bikes to replace combustion engines. Even the KTM Jr bikes at Supercross really bum me out because you can’t hear them. But I think it would be fun and convenient to have an electric bike to ride around my house and take places where a louder bike wouldn’t be able to go. Like backyard tracks and stuff like that when neighbors complain big time about noise (California problems)

Kinda nice to see them collaborating because they are some of the biggest companies and everyone argues abt what is better and sure we all have dif preferences but all in all we are just trying to have fun

I have seen many MX races in my life at Millville and watched Doug Henry on a 4 stroke when everyone else was on a 2 stoke when they first came out, everyone laughed. Look back years ago and look at it now and look at whats to come. Whats next E bikes after that some kind of drone. Enjoy any type of old school MX as you can, Its still the BEST sport out there. Ride

Yamaha and Honda? I never thought that would ever happen. But a fantastic idea, the 3 biggest bike companies. Like it or not though, electric MX and SX is just a matter of time. 4 strokes are just a "place holder".

I bought myself a Sur ron after testing one. I was fully against electric!....until now.
Just to roll out my back gate and cause absolutely no issues with noise feels so so cool. I can’t stop riding it!!!It opens up many doors rather than waiting for tracks to open, loading up the van, engine rebuilds, EVERYTHING!
If it wasn’t any good then they wouldn’t be here. I will always have a petrol bike but for the doubters out there....you’ll be very very surprised by

Life long two stroke rider here but I think electric is going to be a awesome addition - I will definitely be getting one.

This is a win in that they are teaming together to make something consistent for the consumer. I love my dirt bikes (2-stroke & 4-strokes), but there will come a time when this will be necessary. It's nice to see companies at least working the issue earlier. The shear torque that an electric bike could produce, could be epic and a lot of fun, however battery longevity is a serious issue at this point. Hopefully this consortium will help to alleviate this.. Lots of questions though on how we get there first.

Huge negative in my book. 4 big manufacturers working together to speed up electrification. In 2040, there wont be 3 colors of ktm (ktm, beta, gas gas) but youll be able to buy ktm Yamaha's, hondas, Kawasakis, and suzuki.

With motorcycle sales continously on a downward trend, im shocked that the big manufactures are eagerly trying to get a head start on their death. Why not fight to get small bikes exempt from europes overreaching socialist laws on ice engines?

Don’t be afraid of the change, embrace it.

The electric bikes will be good with the same motor systems. after that it will be all about the suspension and riders ability. That would help with those privateers that can't afford factory motors but will have to deal with only the suspension.

I've been riding for nearly 60+ years and the thought of electric bikes turn me off big time. There is so much that stimulates the senses on a gas dirt sounds of the engine, the chain, the tires biting and sliding, etc that's great for a guy's karma. I cannot imagine giving up all those physical/mental stimulations just to ride electric. Am I concerned about pollution? Of course, but if you look at the extremely small amount of pollution that dirt bikes turn out compared to cars, trucks, industry, airlines, etc I don't think bikes even register on the scale. Industry has a tremendous sweetheart deal with the government as well as the airlines or tiny bit of riding is nothing.

I would be interested to see a full electric bike sx or mx. Will the lack of engine sound decrease (or increase??) the spectacle of the race?

Everybody quick, start figuring out how not to have this lame idea forced down your throat.

Do you guys enjoy changing oil, cleaning air filters, doing pistons, valves ... all that sh it?
None of that with electric.

I never use the OEM chain. As soon as I buy a new bike, one of the first things I do is replace the chain & sprockets to Renthals.

electric may be good good for moto but not enduro. no distance. although it would be good to dial up 125 or 450 power on the fly.
