Saw Alvin at the Hagerstown Blues Festival back around 2000. He led with Big Mama's Door and I was spellbound. One of my top 10 favorite blues songs!!

Open G tuning, capo 4th fret, key of B...gotta love the Rollin and Tumblin cadence that Alvin produces here, and the video captures his right hand finger picking technique in conjunction with his fretting hand. This version is a stepped up rendition of his original studio album "Big Mamas Door" that inspired me to learn...a month of Sundays, but it broke down a big wall for me. Thanks for that.

Just brilliant. Alvin is in the true tradition of the old bluesmen that came to Britain from the US
in the 60s and 70s to do their thing. It was mind blowing and I've loved the music ever since.

Man thus is great! I found you by trying to find famous people that went to my Highschool, clicked on your name and checked out YouTube for your songs, absolutely blown away. My pops is a big blues guy from Mississippi, had to show him your songs and he gives his approval. Says this is reminiscent of Mississippi Delta blues.
