I remember playing minecraft before the nether was even added to the game... Such fun times. It feels as if the more that gets added to the game, the less creativity there is.

As someone who started with PE and then Legacy Console I still find these old versions nostalgic for some reason. They're so fascinating. I've recently become interested in gameplay before Beta 1.9, hunger really changed how the game was played, and while I think hunger was a good and necessary change for what the game would become, I won't lie the idea that you used to be able to just play and as long as you played PERFECTLY you wouldn't need food is interesting, and in that context it made sense that food wasn't stackable. Versions like these also have that haunted feel that I think Minecraft has only recently been able to recapture, but the horror of the old versions + how primitive it feels is still really unique. I love the dread that sets in as you watch the transition to night, as the entire world slowly decreases in light level until it's pitch black. Obviously it was a product of the game being in a super early stage but it was still iconic. I really wanna go back and start a world in one of these versions to play, and feel what it was like.

This was the simpler times. Minecraft is still going strong and is a great survival crafting game today, but the alpha is what I will always remember as the true, nostalgic Minecraft experience.

The older versions of minecraft are the best ones in my opinion, It's simple and yet so fun, the menus and interface is also simple, new minecraft is different, it has so many new stuff but it doesn't feel the same, all the new mobs and stuff they keep adding changed what kind of game minecraft used to be. I know the updates is supposed to be a good thing but at the same time I think the game sorta lost it's charm along the way, I just can't get used to new minecraft, I find the older versions much more fun to play.

This game used to feel so god damn mystifying, everything was new and weird and i thought herobrine might have been real at one point, and zombies dropped feathers and items were unlimited on pocket edition. I miss those days sometimes.

not only is this super nostalgic for me, but I deal with some pretty bad overall dissociation. playing newer versions of Minecraft make me so overwhelmed- as time went on, I wasn’t and still haven’t been able to truly catch up to all of the new and overwhelming features the game has to offer. If anything, the overload of things to do and different venues to venture through make me dissociate even harder when playing the game. it never occurred to me how I could return to the older versions I used to know and love, I guess because it’s been such an uncommon idea. thank you sm for this video
