Indian Students banned by Australian Universities |Indian Fraud Agents |Banned Indian states

Australian Universities are banning students from 5 Indian states. Why? Due to fraudulent visa applications. Are students to be blamed for this or dodgy agents?
On 19th May, more Australian universities announced that they are banning International students from India due to concern over increasing visa fraud.
Australian department Home affairs have said that this is the highest level of fraud they have seen in the last 10 years where 1 application out of 4 is found to be fraud or not genuine .

The ban is applied to students from the following states in India:
1. Punjab
2. Haryana
3. Jammu and Kashmir
4. Uttarakhand
5. Uttar Pradesh

The ban is applied to students who are applying to study at the following Australian universities:
● Federation University in Victoria
● Western Sydney University

Earlier this year, there were 6 other universities that banned Indian students. they were
Victoria, Edith Cowan, Torrens, and Southern Cross, Wollongong and Flinders
They acknowledge that the genuine students will be impacted but they had to make a hard decision to stop these fraud cases and it was necessary to protect the integrity of the institution’s international student program.
Also, Australia is on track for its biggest annual intake of Indian students across universities and vocational courses, topping 2019’s watermark of 75,000 however they are still taking this hard decision to stop the fraud.
There is a sudden boom in application after the government removed a 20-hour weekly limit on the amount of work students could do.

So what’s happening now :
1. Australian Universities have stopped processing for the 5 regions in India.
2. All applications will be withdrawn immediately.
3. They will not defer applicants to the next intake.
4. Any applicant with an unconditional offer, who has made payment before the 19th of May, have been offered the choice to continue to COE or withdraw their application to study at Federation. You can refer to the notification sent to the student via StudyLink.
5. they have asked agents not to recruit students from these regions until further notice

Other reasons for this hard decision is:
1. large numbers of Indian students who began courses in 2022 from these states had dropped out
The highest number of students are from Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat. It is believed that they come here not to study but to switch to any other visa category and they find the student visa route as the easiest route to enter Australia.

Its just not fair on other students and most of these cases are lies they dont even understand the subject. They just do it for work purposes and visa. We have to stand up for our Australian values. We put every country before Australia and that will be our downfall

If you’re coming for studies, first you should have to finish this. Similar is happening in the UK and I feel this is necessary.
