As I recall the story is that Pulaski (also famous for saving a number of firefighters in the 1910 fire) took a double bit axe as a starting point and cut/twisted the one end to get the shape. So the twist seems like a correct feature.

I did that once for a former friend of mine who did a lot of trail building on public trails. The head that I got ahold of had raised scallops on the blades, so I carefully masked the blades and had the scallops powder coated emerald green. I wrote an article for the DIRTMAG mtb website called The Green Pulaski Award.

Wish you would have repaired that damaged edge with new steel and redone the heat treated vs. just grinding the blade down..

It would be interesting seeing how you would design a Pulaski yourself

Nice refurbishment! That thing has seen some use but you got it ready for the next 50 years 👍

Timothy,
Curious as to the stock blank of lumber you used, what is the thickness and was it hickory?

Got a small collection of axes I have found melel detecting and working in a scap yard. But my favorite is one just like this one but older. Has no paint, just a aged rust patina. Wouldn't sell it for nothing.

It would be so cool to have a bearded Pulaski!

Honestly, a rather disappointing video. When I read refurbished, I thought you were actually going to use your skills to fix the missing chunk. The video would have just been called, grinding off a broken axe head.
