Trees Uprooted, Houses Destroyed, Power Lines Cut As Cyclone Remal Tears Through Bengal, Bangladesh

Cyclone Remal made landfall between the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh late on Sunday night, with winds up to 135 kmph. Remal, which has now weakened into a severe cyclonic storm, struck between Sagar Island and Khepupara near Mongla, Bangladesh, at 8:30 pm on May 26. After making landfall, the severe cyclonic storm began moving northwards and is likely to gradually weaken further.
