Before the Las Vegas mass shooting, "CBS This Morning" co-host Norah O'Donnell spoke with Republican Congressman Steve Scalise about gun control. Last week's "60 Minutes" interview was Scalise's first since he was critically wounded in June by a gunman at a congressional baseball practice. In a portion you didn't see on "60 Minutes," the House majority whip stated his support for gun owners' rights.

The small percentage of incidents like this do not equate to taking away the right to bear arms! He is correct and your emotionally manipulative NON-argument is childish!

If he hadn't had a gun he would have made a bomb or drove a vehicle into a crowd. Limiting access to weapons does not cure homicidal people. Most people who have a ccw would risk their lives to defend strangers in situations like these. My prayers and condolences to the victims and their friends and families.

The argument gun-rights advocates use is always an 'either-or' scenario. I believe an increasing number of us see a need for some sort of middle ground between 'all-or-none'. I think the time has come to have that conversation....

you can support gun rights and common sense gun control at the same time

Exactly, you can't carry a gun on a baseball field, which is why you needed a security detail, which is why the argument that more guns are always the solution is absurd! Just like in Vegas, where more guns wouldn't have helped. Nobody knew where the bullets were coming from! Two tragedies, two examples of a weak argument. We need to get rid of semi-automatic rifles, they are a danger to lives in this country. The 2nd amendment is in conflict with the very 1st natural right: life.

How ironic that Steve Scalise was critically wounded by a gunman. There is justice after all.
