Peterson/Blackwood: The Psychology of Wokeism

We need to look at the psychological level to understand the dominance of wokeism and post-modernism. Their uprise is embedded in a much larger context of the search for meaning on the background of the eroding of social institutions. Dr. Stephen Blackwood is a Philosopher, cultural critic and founder of Ralston College. Jordan Peterson is professor of psychology at the University of Toronto.

How can you have separation of church and state when the state becomes the church?

The vast majority of the worlds population couldn't care less about any of this madness they're too busy living their lives. Working raising families, living in their communities, paying their bills, running businesses etc. All this stuff seems to be going on with university intellectuals and students in the arts and social sciences. Mechanics, nurses, shop workers, bus drivers, farmers etc couldn't care less. Theyre just living their lives.

Far to many in our society have no idea what true oppression and poverty really is, but they well soon find out.

When l was 9 yrs old l asked my Dad, “ what race are we?” He said” Heinz 57”. So having a grandfather born under a covered wagon, being born of a Cherokee Native American mother and Jewish father, then mixed marriages from folks from Ireland, Germany, Louisiana USA. No one can claim a pure race.” Said my Dad whom was Italian my mother was Irish.

I am so astonished every time how well Jordan can articulate ideas into coherent statements, it just baffles my mind and internally evokes the same reaction as his guest when jordan finished his argument. Wow,

Misplaced guilt and people with lots of material things yet empty of purpose in life.

The problem that's missed in all of this discussion is that in the search for some material utopia, the woke find the need to designate a (self-defined) villian in their desire for (self-defined) "good" (everyone is not found to be good, but perpetrators of the crime of inequity).

Since I first heard the word "woke" just a few years ago, I've always interpreted "woke-ism" as what those who constantly use the term (pejoratively) have in common, namely an often or even typically brutal hostility to a caricaturish vision of those who are predominantly concerned with the charitable treatment of others and particularly for those most marginal members of our society.

I am a post-Catholic small-c conservative who lives in a nice mostly small-l liberal society (French Canada but not in Quebec) and for the most part would like to keep it that way.

But I DON'T have any patience at all for those university campus loonies who spout nonsense in insisting that the rest of organic society must conform to the narrow ideological vision they have created in their self-appointed philosopher-king minds. You don't "change society" with vinegary, accusative discourse, but through the slow and steady power of example.

The irony is that this applies equally to professional "anti-wokists" as to the often even more reality-disconnected leftist loonies that are the target of their opprobrium.

Is it not just because society has failed to recognize the covert narcissist. The mother who is a victim in everything and raises children not to have empathy but to give power to anything that cries.

Thé only thing we should be aware is that every second they re is more happening in the world that we could ever know. We have to admit, we don’t know much.

Unfortunately, many people can't look in the mirror and ask themselves, what's my problem, why am I so frustrated and scared. Instead they scapegoat, pointing fingers at other groups of people as their enemy.

@12:00 GOSH what a beautiful (tip of the iceberg) breakdown of the many wonderful blessings we have in our modern world man!!
Like not having to store up calories to survive winter, not worrying about making light after sunset!.. Truly we are blessed, and yet people obsess about whether or not they should mutilate their genitals as adolescents, behind their parents’ backs.🤯🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

In the same way intelligent people have a hard time accepting that stupid people exists, normal, adult, mentally equilibrated people have a hard time figuring out hateful, envious and resentful people exists. Blackwood is missing this when he asks himself why we are consistently losing the argument. We are losing the argument precisely because we are trying to argue, and they are just not interested in it. They just want to see people they hate and/or envy, suffer and that's it. They won't stop at nothing until they get it. They don't care if they live a poor and miserable place as long as the people they hate also lives there. That's what motivates them and nothing else. Against that any intelectual exercise is a hundred percent useless.

I absolutely agree with the fact that wokeism is foundamentally an ideological manifestation of a religious type thinking.
I use two frame of reference for understand the current situation from the psychological perspective: one is rapresented by the work of Carl Gustav Jung and Sigmund Freud, the other is to be found in the paradigm rapresenting the signification of emotions from a inter-relational perspective.
In order to be able to understad the psycological structures and dynamics that are taking place right now i ask myself: since something is happening, in what way what is taking place has been able to manifest itself?
From how i see it the question is: what are those people really comunicating?
the answers are two from what i've been able to discover:
first, i feel hurt, misanderstood and misrecognized
second, i feel the need to express this in such a way that permit me to feel the things that i want to feel. (to feel seen, heard, etc)
I've seen that happening many many times is scapegoat children or in narcisistic households.
Obviously if one accept this frame of explanation there is a implication that comes along with that, wich sounds like the following: one assumption of human mind is that it needs to express itself. If you block the verbal way it will find other ways, worst( more strong in their ways of manifesting themselves).
Then comes the question of what to do about that. To that I answer like this: what would you do if a person that you love come to you asking to be heard?Asking for love? I personally listen to them and try to make them feel loved.
Now, one can understand why I think that this is a solution only using the concept of intergenerational trauma.
These people are not born in a void.
I know that the idea of treating a person that you don't know as someone you love is challenging but I do profoundly believe that the only way out of this circle is to be found in a conscious, intentional transformation of ourselves such that we can take responsability for all those that came before us and that couldn't take that responsability.
