How to Use a Bias Binder Foot with your Sewing Machine

Bias binding is a great way to finish areas such as necklines and armholes and is also used in quilting and patchwork to finish the edges. In this video I'll show you two different feet you can buy for your sewing machine to help you to sew bias binding to your projects and get great results. One foot is a bias binder foot that will fold a strip of fabric as it feeds through the foot and stitch it accurately in place along the raw edge of the fabric. This foot comes in a range of sizes and different feet need to be used to apply different widths of bias binding. The other foot is an adjustable bias binder foot and allows you to sew a range of widths of bias binding with one foot, although it does not fold the bias as you sew and therefore pre folded bias binding must be inserted into the foot for sewing. Both of these sewing machine feet will help you to achieve neat, accurate results with your bias binding and are a lot of fun to sew with. You can find them for a range of sewing machines on our website including Brother, Janome, Husqvarna, Pfaff and Elna. Always check our compatibility charts to make sure sewing machine feet are compatible with your machine and don't hesitate to email us if you need any help. Find links to everything you need below.

Wow! You’ve just saved my skin and mantle as ‘best auntie’. Had the foot, no idea how to use it and my niece desperately wanted pink bias binding on her Christmas gift apron I’m making her. No more tearing my hair out. Thank you so much, a great and informative video.

Great video- could you possibly turn a rounded corner with this attachment?

Very nice. I need this attachment in my life. My last two tutorials featured bias tape utilized as a decorative element in my garments. It was easy to apply, but I still would like to have an attachment for future use.

I’d like to see how you handle it sewing “in the round”, like on a neckline.

The issue I have is when I get to a seam. Can this foot really only handle single layer fabric? It isn't too useful if so.
