I have the 240 EXP hubs with the 54t ratchet and I have put a fair amount of DT Swiss Grease but they are only quiet at slow revolution, and that only lasts for a couple rides as the grease gets pushed away from the teeth. Conclusion: this hub is loud and there isn't much you can do about it in the long run. But I love it that way.

My 36t exp ratchet is way louder than both. i use the same dt swiss special grease, but only minimal amounts.

Do you think anything will happen if I use it without fat or oil? I like the way it sounds when it's not lubricated, I've been using it like this for a couple of weeks, but I don't know if it's bad.

I use Phil Tenacious Oil and it works great on 18t ratchet: considerably louder than stock DT grease, no problems with engagement and freewheeling. I wouldn’t use lighter oil though. It should be sticky enough to stay on ratcheting surfaces.

When a DT Swiss ratchet freehub starts making more noise, time to clean and regrease with only the special grease.
