Two surfers on motorised boards were labelled "idiots" by Venice's mayor for speeding down the city's Grand Canal.

There is a VERY strict speed limit on all craft in Venice due to the erosion

They're not exactly speeding along - and they're not creating any wake or noise like the surrounding hundreds of boats....so difficult to see the problem

In fairness it, s very reckless anyone who has ever operated a motorboat knows how dangerous a propellor can be and how hard it is to see swimmers should they fall off which is very common

What specifically caused the outrage? The sound… the wake… other people scared of the people on the boards falling… the fact that this may be a new method of transportation that infringed on the wealths ability to make more money off of people…

They aren’t going that fast and they aren’t bothering anybody. They are just out trying to enjoy the day having some innocent fun and they wanna call them idiots track them down and take their boards. This is one of many reasons of what’s wrong with the world we live in today!
