Work on your strengths | Read description | Assa Kooda #shorts

It's such a human tendency to leave something as soon as we get tangible results from it and move onto learning something else. We hyperfocus on our weaknesses and put our energy and resources into obsessively turning them into our strengths.
💡We tend to lose sight of our unique strengths and start chasing after what others are doing. Sometimes we're inspired by their style but some times we actually want the applause, respect, validation, appreciation and rewards they get. Sneaky mind 🤭
A lot of this is rooted in us being insecure, impatient & lacking self-trust, a sense of belonging, validation & an identity outside of dance.
I've been there. It's been challenging for me because I've been a versatile dancer forever with different interests and an ability to learn and become good at it. So the shit storm in the head is real 🌪🌀 The thing is that I don't fit in anywhere. I never have.
While some promote versatility, some see it as a weakness and say that we must be known for one or 2 specific things especially if we're in a teacher/educator/choreographer position.
It gets tricky when it comes to the marketing part- how do I present myself? How can people trust me? Will they delegitimise me? Do I lack commitment, focus & dedication because they see me showing up doing different things?
✨But my versatility is natural to me. It is who I am. I have a mixed family background and grew up in different places. My life experiences, cultural heritage, habits, mindset and values influence my interests, choices and approaches in music and dance. This is how I contribute to dance- by being good at being ME
It feels scary to double down on our strengths.
But here lies a great opportunity to dive deeper into the process, to be brave and lean into our gifts, learn to navigate plateaus, burn out & points, master mental focus, patience and build TRUE CONFIDENCE & be EXCELLENT at what makes us unique.
I've learned that it's important to strengthen our strength to build our baseline of confidence. Alongside that it's beneficial to work on our weakness. They could even be our potential strengths, who knows...
BE YOUR BEST YOU✨
