Ukraine army says recaptured over 20 settlements in Kharkiv • FRANCE 24 English

The Ukrainian military said Thursday it had recaptured more than 20 towns and villages in the northeastern Kharkiv region as part of a counter-offensive against Moscow's forces. FRANCE 24's Senior Reporter James André tells us more.

It's very impressive if they hold these gains. Another impressive point to note, Ukraine waited patiently for the Russians to commit forces to an offensive in the area above them on the map taking the majority of their soldiers away from the area Ukraine were going to attack in large numbers. As of right now it worked brilliantly.

In addition to this battle, down by Kherson they have opened up 3 fronts so 4 active fronts in total, they have almost effectively encircled up to 30k soldiers cutting them off from supplies. Yesterday there were some reports of Russian squads refusing to fight unless they received their pay and supplies.

Morale is understandable low and Ukraine are doing their very best to ensure it stays that way by sending in missiles at random times at night, early dawn times.

Great news, but to safeguard those gains, and extend them, that Kerch Bridge in Crimea really does need to be taken out, as it's one of Russia's major supply lines. And the sooner it happens the better.

It is in France's best interest to help Ukraine to defeat Putin's barbaric regime in order to achieve a long lasting peace and security for both Ukraine and Europe. Thus, France must do more in providing financial support and military aid to Ukraine especially with hightech weapons and long range artillery systems.

OMG - The map is wrong. E.g. nova khakovka is just right of Kherson (2:20 map in video) at the upper tip of the blue line going up, and not all the way up. That would be a critical information error and kinda makes any analysis lose credibility. Please get the basics right.
