For those that need context, David knew Alice as a little girl, and he would sometimes read Alice in Wonderland to her. But after her father had passed away, her very strict mother decided to move away with her and start fresh. Alice does not recognize David at all, but David immediately realized who she was when he saw her at the disco drunk.
