USSPACECOM Legal Conference 2023 - Space Traffic Management, Situational Awareness Panel

"Space Traffic Management (STM) / Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Sharing: Partnering for a Safe Space Environment" - The first multi-expert panel of the *second* day of the USSPACECOM Legal Conference 2023 addressed issues of space traffic management (STM) and space situational awareness (SSA) data-sharing, and the role played in STM/SSA by private companies and government agencies. Moderated by Colonel Sarah Mountin, the Staff Judge Advocate of Space Operations Command—West &Combined Force Space Component Command, this panel was comprised of the following experts:

- Derek Hanson, Attorney-Advisor; Weather, Satellites and Research Section; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- Art Loureiro, Director, Space Defense Solutions, L3Harris
- Diana McKissock, Director, SDA Partnership and Coalition Engagement Division, 18th Space Defense Squadron
- Paul Weber, General Counsel, Blue Origin

The 3rd Annual USSPACECOM Legal Conference, co-hosted by the USSPACECOM Legal Office and the US Air Force Academy's Law, Technology, & Warfare Research Cell, was a 3-day event, which took place at Polaris Hall, United States Air Force Academy, and Schriever Space Force Base between 28 February and 2 March 2023. The theme of the 2023 Conference was "Cooperation in Space," with panels and keynotes on a wide range of issues including international space cooperation and the Artemis Accords, public/private partnering in the defense of Ukraine, collective security, commercial partnerships, and space traffic management / space domain awareness partnering.

The "Space Traffic Management (STM) / Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Sharing: Partnering for a Safe Space Environment" panel took place on the morning of 1 March 2023.
