Fire Fighting over Athens City 3 August 2021 – Part 1 of 2 (Water Refilling)

Athens Fire 3 August 2021, Part B - Water Refilling/Abstraction by several aircraft and helicopters.
Locations of refilling were Lake Marathon and Nea Makri beach.

Την Τρίτη 3 Αυγούστου 2021, στο πλαίσιο της κοινωνικής της προσφοράς, η Πολεμική Αεροπορία διέθεσε τα παρακάτω μέσα:

Για Αεροπυρόσβεση,
Δύο (2) CL-415 εκτέλεσαν αποστολές αεροπυρόσβεσης στη Ρόδο.
Ένα (1) CL-415 εκτέλεσε αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στον Πεντάλοφο Κοζάνης.
Ένα (1) CL-415 εκτέλεσε αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στη Δεσκάτη Γρεβενών.
Δύο (2) CL-215 εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στη Στυλίδα.
Τρία (3) CL-215 εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στη Βαρυμπόμπη.
Δύο (2) CL-215 εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στο Γύθειο.
Τρία (3) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στο Βασιλίτσι Μεσσηνίας.
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στο Βασιλίτσι και το Βλαχόπουλο Μεσσηνίας.
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στα Αγράμπελα Καλαβρύτων
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στη Λίμνη Ευβοίας.
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή αεροπυρόσβεσης στην Ψηλή Ράχη Δράμας.

Εκτελέστηκαν 32 έξοδοι και συμπληρώθηκαν 72,5 ώρες πτήσης.

Για Επιτήρηση,
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή επιτήρησης στο Μαντάμαδο, την Ερεσσό και την Γέρα Λέσβου.
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή επιτήρησης στο Άκτιο και την Πρέβεζα.
Ένα (1) PZL εκτέλεσε αποστολή επιτήρησης στον Αγκώνα, το Κάστρο και τη Σκάλα Κεφαλλονιάς.
Ένα (1) PZL εκτέλεσε αποστολή επιτήρησης στην Κέρκυρα.
Δύο (2) PZL εκτέλεσαν αποστολή επιτήρησης στη Θάσο και την Καβάλα.

Εκτελέστηκαν 9 έξοδοι και συμπληρώθηκαν 14,4 ώρες πτήσης.

Για Αεροδιακομιδές,
Ένα (1) Super Puma μετέφερε 1 ασθενή από την Ικαρία στη Σάμο.

Συμπληρώθηκε 2,7 ώρες πτήσης σε 1 αποστολή.

Airplanes and helicopters of various characteristics represent a good fire fighting capability and each aircraft provides its own unique contribution to the common cause.
Thanks to its high speed, the Be-200 offers high fire-suppression capacity in terms of the number of water drops and the amount of water dropped per hour. *For one refueling, the airplane is capable of dropping up to 270 tons of water, * provided that airfield to fire distance is 100 km and fire to water body distance is 10 km. Think about it - *just in one flight 22 times discharge of 12 tons of water to the fire source.*

The Greeks could buy 2 BE-200 for the price of the I F35 fighter plane. I guess that they got their priorities wrong on how to protect their country.

The Be-200 are very impressive and very powerful. But I‘m a bit wondering how slow the Chinook choppers are operating. They loose lots of time until they have their buckets refilled… the Skycrane is so much faster even by pumping up the water!

Unfortunately this is a great current tragedy, not only in Greece, that I would never want to see ... and every year it will get worse. But technically it's a chance to see the gorgeous Be-200 in action: technique, speed and elegance/aesthetics, this last one that doesn't hurt. As an aviation lover I say that this is the top of fire fighting amphibious. We could have some here in Italy ... I hope, given the inevitable need, that the European air fire forces increase integration and mutual availability.

Ένα ειδικό ενυδρείο ταχείας αναπλήρωσης νερού δεν θα μπορούσαν να κατασκευασουν εμπλεκόμενοι δήμοι για αυτά τα ελικόπτερα σε διάφορα μέρη. Θεωρώ ότι δεν θα ήταν κ τόσο μεγάλο το κόστος. Κερδίζεις χρόνο κ καύσιμα.
