Turkish Airlines Economy class Flight Istanbul to NYC

I've been flying short- and long-haul flights with Turkish Airlines for years. I can't understand the negative reviews. They offer excellent value for money, and all the planes are brand new.
Everyone should experience it for themselves.

man those seats were hard. Need more cushion on those eco seats for sure and some width. They're tight. If you have a little broad shoulders, it's going to be a rough 9/10 hours if you're not sitting next to a petite person or a child

Please think twice before booking with Turkish Airlines. We had a terrible experience—very few staff spoke English, and I was pressured into buying an extra ticket in cash and USD. Later, the gate supervisor admitted it was a mistake and told me to request a refund after arrival. It’s been almost a year, and I still haven’t received my money.

The one-day delay caused serious problems for my family, and all they offered was €600. The plane was extremely dirty, especially the bathroom, and the food and seats were awful.

I highly recommend Qatar Airways instead—they were excellent in every way.

Eight of us traveled with Turkish Airlines, and it was a horrible experience from the very beginning. The restrooms were extremely dirty and smelled awful throughout the entire flight. They even sold us an extra ticket and charged us in cash — in U.S. dollars, not Turkish lira. Later, the passport check manager admitted it was a mistake and told us to follow up in the U.S. to get our money back. It’s been a year now, and nothing has happened.

The nightmare didn’t end there. Because of a one-day delay, they made us wait six hours at the airport and then took us to a hotel in the city by bus. The next day, they kept pushing passengers to stay longer in exchange for 600 euros, a hotel stay, and food. But people travel with plans — not just for money or a random hotel stay with no coordination.

To top it all off, the seats, food, and overall service were absolutely terrible.

On top of that, our luggage didn’t arrive with us. It was delivered a week later — but only after multiple visits and follow-ups at the airport. One of the suitcases was even torn apart when we received it. I honestly couldn’t believe it was ours.

Please, don’t ruin your trip with one wrong choice

Can confirm - flew from New York to Shanghai, worst economy class experience ever. Would definitely choose asian airlines if possible in the future
