Look I can’t say Phil played this terribly. He decided to play a junky hand and bluff catch against someone who heavily over bluffs. I was surprised by Dwans shove. Maybe he thought Phil had a better hand than he did like Kings or Jacks and thought Phil wouldn’t lay it down. I probably would have folded, but if anyones worth making this call against, it’s Dwan.

Ya the thing is we can laugh all we want and say haha he called with 79 but in this case he's so damn polarized, he mucks his 89 or j9 or aj or random diamonds about half the time. It's probably a close call, Hellmuth likes to go with his gut but I'm surprised he made the call, as this is a huge pot for him.

Yeah, he has a 10 there really a lot. If he had nothing he's bluffing the flop, he feels he has showdown so he checks and bets with 3 10s. It's about 50 50 call or fold against dwan, though

You have to compare your own hands strength to the type of hands that could beat your hand with the action taken. And also, the amount of chips you have left. You cant always fold or you'll be eaten alive by tricky and observant players.

I put Dwan on JJ. And there are a lot more hands that could beat Hellmuth here. Tx, Qx and pocket pairs 55 77 or higher. In this spot I might call another bet on the river. But to an All-in I would most likely fold. Of course I'm just an amateur.
