GMC Reveals 2022 Hummer EV!

Seems like a really cool truck! But...

a). It's expensive: to get the performance and range they're justifiably touting, you need to shell out at least $112, 595. And that's the "Starting at" price. The cheapest base price is $80, 000 for 250 miles of range, slower charging, no crab-walk, 2/3 the horsepower and torque, etc.

b). Even at the top (starting) price of $112, 595 the range is much less than the $70, 000 Cybertruck's (< 70% in fact). The acceleration, while much closer, will also be slightly inferior.

There are some really cool and, to my knowledge, unique features (crab-walk, undercarriage cameras, etc.), but the Cybertruck has some of its own (lockable bed, scratch resistant, semi-bulletproof, possible full self-driving, access to the peerless Supercharger network, etc.).

Bottom line: is the Hummer EV really worth $42, 595 more? Individual decision, of course, but it doesn't look good on the surface as a value proposition. Not a good sign when your lowest performance trim costs $10, 000 _more_ than the competition's highest one while having half the range and nothing like the power and performance.

It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

I wonder what the drag coefficient is on this truck. It looks so bulky and square, its going to need a 200kWh battery just to reach those 350 miles of range.
