During a visit to Europe in 1979 I fell in love with the absolute beauty of the Cotswolds. While driving slowly in the early misty morning on very narrow roadways bordered by hedges, you’d round a curve only to find yourself behind beautiful horses being ridden by people on old fashioned saddles wearing old fashioned jodhpurs. It was an exquisite place with huge manor homes with peat/turf roofs enclosed by large stone fences. I’d never heard of the Cotswolds before but I’ll never forget them.
I loved this dig, as usual. You are my favorite channel.

I am so VERY THANKFUL that these videos are available. I bet I have seen each video made at least 4 times and I learn something new everytime. I LOVE ENGLAND and would swap with anyone in England looking to come to the US. I am a retired contractor (55) and I spend 90% of my time reading and studing England/UK history. I just LOVE it so!

This mosaic is amazing, I mean to think how long it’s been sitting there and it looks so undisturbed even though the area is clearly maintained. It’s absolutely stunning.

An old joke written sometime between 63 B.C. and 14 B.C. went like this. "The emperor Augustus was touring the empire when he saw a man who bore a striking resemblance to himself. Intrigued he asked the man if his mother was ever in service at the palace. "No your highness", the man answered, "but my father was."

4:29 I love the dialect contrast between Anthony Beeson and Phil Harding with Neil Holbrook as a bridge.

I love British trash talk. “If the geophys is already done why are you here?” All taken with a good chuckle.

Brilliant!

Always loved "Time Team" I've hopefully watched every episode at least once. Over the many seasons, it ran. I wish more shows followed its path of more information on the work and the knowledge and less on re-enactments.

It's amazing to see stuff revealed from the soil.

The Romano Britons certainly chose one of the most beautiful regions to put all those villas. 40 something years ago I lived in a little village 2 miles from Great Witcombe, 2 miles from Painswick villa, 5 miles from this one in Coberly, and 10 miles from Chedworth villa.

I remember taking a photo of my sister in 1971 lying on one of the stones as a sacrificial person. haha. We didn't know to appreciate that access until it was gone. Very near my English families village of Whitchurch, Hampshire.
