I Wasted Money on This Budget Wig: Here’s Why

Thinking of buying a budget-friendly wig? Please watch this first. I did my research, contacted the company, compared reviews, and still made some critical mistakes with this affordable wig from Wigshe. I’m sharing my honest experience—not to complain, but to help you avoid the same frustrating (and costly) journey I went through.

Despite the label “budget-friendly,” this wig still came with a significant price tag once taxes were included, and even more importantly, it cost me hours of time trying to make it wearable. From a poor ear-to-ear fit to visible knots and an overall helmet-like shape that just didn’t sit naturally, the issues started piling up fast.

In this video, I’ll walk you through everything I wish I had done differently—from not checking the hairline before cutting the lace, to misunderstanding what lightly bleached knots would look like on darker hair, to plucking before washing. Most of all, I’ll explain why I regret not sending the wig back when I had the chance.

If you’re a beginner or someone trying to make alternative hair work on a budget, this video is for you. These lessons were hard-won, and I genuinely hope they’ll save you money, time, and frustration. This isn’t a hit piece—it’s about learning what not to do when buying a budget wig, and being realistic about what it takes to make one look natural.

👇 I’d love to hear your experience too—have you had similar regrets with a wig purchase? Share your story in the comments. Let’s help each other out.

Wig: Wigshe WIG006
Colour: 2 Dark Brown
Length: 16 Inch
Density: 120%
Cap Size: Average
Bleached Knots: Lightly bleached

For reference, my head measurements are:

Circumference: 56 cm (22”)
Front to back: 33,5 cm (13,5”)
Ear to ear over the top of the head: 29.20 cm (11.5”)
Temple to temple around the back of the head: 36 cm (14.20”)

Lessons Learned & Final Thoughts:
Return Policies Matter: Always check the return policy—don’t let the hassle or extra costs keep you from returning a flawed wig. If it doesn’t fit from the start, send it back. Your time and sanity are worth more than the back-and-forth of endless fixes.

Order of Operations: Wash the wig first, then style, and only after that, pluck or cut. Don’t skip steps—you’ll learn a lot about the wig’s behavior (like shedding or density) just from that first wash.

Do Your Research (And Then Some): Look beyond the basic specs and find reviews that mention bulkiness, construction flaws, or uneven hair lengths.

Customization vs. Construction Flaws: Some things can be fixed—plucking, parting, even bleaching—but not every problem is solvable. Uneven density, thick knotting, and inconsistent hair lengths often signal construction flaws, not just style preferences.

Trust Your First Impression: If something feels wrong when you try it on—even if you’ve invested time and money already—it’s okay to walk away. I wish I had returned this wig when I first noticed the issues. That one decision could have saved me hours of frustration.

Thanks for your review! So for dark hair, you would recommend getting it fully bleached rather than lightly bleached?

Have you thought about learning to make them yourself? It can be much less expensive and you are in control.
