You are, no doubt, right. I play mostly arranged jazz, now, but was playing traditional technique poorly. We see all the patterns, altered, in many dimensions, in jazz style. The techniques are the same. If I were an enthusiast of "classical" repertoire, your point is right on. I left it behind many years ago and never looked back; a personal taste matter.

For me, it was all classical. If the radio didn't exist at the time -> classical. Only by playing the piano that I've learn that Chopin was not classical but romantic music, There's also baroque and... Nah, all the same, it's classical.
