The sound was also heavily inspired by the noise that the Stuka, a German WWII dive bomber, made when attacking. It achieved this with small coat hanger-like devices on each wing, making the distinctive noise as it sped through the air

George Lucas tried to recreate the Stuka siren, since both the Empire and the germans had the same idea to use it “as a psychological terror weapon designed to inflict panic on enemy ground forces and civilians.” Basically saying they wanted strike fear, which the Empire loved.

They used those sounds for the lasers. The engine noise was modeled after Stuka sirens. TikTokkers can’t get anything right.
