Just saw an article on pulse jet technology yesterday that said there's no moving parts in them. They leave a uniquely shaped exhaust pattern in the sky that can look like a string of beads or something similar

When I was a student in the school science lab every week I had to haul out a small pulse jet engine to show the students how this simple engine worked. It was about the size of a very large loaf of bread anchored down to a sturdy wooden platform. Just like this one it took several attempts to start it but I did not have a hefty leaf blower I had to use a stand up bicycle pump . Then when it caught it made the MOST UNGODLY NOISE that you would ever hear !! The 12 students that were around to watch all covered their ears and started taking steps back. more and more. Some of them are trying to uselessly talk still moving back I am stuck right there trying to keep the damn thing running ! I quickly look for the teachers’ eyes to indicate that I can shut off this noisemaker from Hell ! I had volunteered to run this for the entire semester and to this day I cringe at the idea of running a Pulse Jet engine .
You will understand if you are ever close to one . My buddy told me that it shattered the enamel on his teeth !
