Escaping his father with his younger half-brother in tow, the rebellious Link (Philip Lewitski) flees his trailer park home in search of his mother and a fresh start. On the way he meets Pasmay (Joshua Odjick), an indigenous two-spirit lonely soul who joins them as they travel across Mi’kmaq territory in rural Nova Scotia. As a close bond begins to form with Pasmay, Link learns to come to terms with his own complex heritage, racial identity and sexuality. Beautifully shot in stunning eastern Canada locations, Bretten Hannam’s finely crafted film is a critically acclaimed and sensitively observed tale of first love and self-acceptance.

“He’s trapped externally, but also internally” that sentence is so powerful and so true for Link and soooo many around the world. Wow art is beautiful, gosh!, , , Eye’ve watch this movie more times then to even know anymore, this film and all it has to offer and show the world will forever be with my heart and spirit and everything Eye do, every hike, every tough conversation, every song, every sketch, why it all matters. May the whole cast and crew be able to have their hearts and voices and the hearts and voices of these communities and those with similar stories of Link and Joshua be heard more, be listened to more, seen wholeheartedly, loved, protected, understood, honored! May this film be protected by love, forever!

That’s just So much that’s beautiful about this film. The locations, themes, actors all embody this beauty, together contributing to a breathtaking art piece. I’d have killed to have this sort of movie around when growing up.
