"This was, sort of, stepping out of our spacesuit and coming down to Earth and putting on a pair of Osh Kosh and digging the furrows ... we would have to bring the music in, to support the texts: Hunter's Holy Grail" - Mickey Hart

The three-CD set featuring the original album with newly remastered sound, plus an unreleased complete concert recorded on February 21, 1971 at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY.

The show was mixed from the 16-track analog master tapes by Jeffrey Norman at Bob Weir’s Marin County TRI Studios and mastered by Grammy® Award-winning engineer, David Glasser, along with restoration and speed correction by Plangent Processes.

I saw the Dead play in Boulder, Colorado in the football stadium. I was hitchhiking with my good buddy Bill McKee and we just happened to grab some tickets to the Dead show. It was 1972 and we saw Mountain Woman and Pig Pen on drums and of course Jerry and the entire gang. They were passing out boxes of pot to the ground on the stadium floor. Also, every Dead show I saw there was always a double rainbow and naturally I turned my shoulder and you got it there was a double rainbow out in the Colorado sky. Man, it was really cool. And, it was all true.

In 1977 I was in 8th grade. I lived in Manhattan Beach, California and my middle school was 2 blocks off the water. For PE class we had the option of an hour and a half of surfing! It included our lunch hour.
There was a cool Hawaiian dude named Eric Balu who would come to our school in the winter the awesome winter swells. This dude was the most talented long gun board surfer I ever knew personally.
One day after school I went with him to his mom's house. She was at work ...Eric pulled out this album and played this song....I had never heard it before but it stuck in my mind...forever.
West coast beaches in winter time gets all the big surf from hurricanes in Mexico and storms in Alaska. It causes huge waves that are so damn big. Maverics just next to Santa Cruz, California gets 30 foot swells several times every winter. They hold world professional surf events there. Next to the North Shore in Hawaii, Mavericsa is one of the worlds biggest wave beaches.

My parents are both huge Deadheads. They named me after Brent Midland. Thought it was boring old people music when I was younger, but as an adult I’ve gained an appreciation for it. It’d be weird if I didn’t like the music that my namesake was involved in.

Man I miss hearing this on the radio. I used to wait for 96.5 WHTQ in Orlando to play this back in the days as a kid. LOL I love this classic rock music even though all of it pre-dates me by 20 years or so.

I just had a spam caller who said his name was Casey Jones. I started asking him about the cocaine & the accident. He finally just said he'd put me on the "Do Not Call" list.
