I work in mortgage applications dealing with product switches new apps etc, mortgage balances of 200k are paying 700 per month extra in interest and thats going from covid level 1.79% to current 6% marks. People are not going to be able to afford this. The higher the balance the higher the increases. Ive already spoken to about 10 customers in the last week who have all said they can't afford to pay it and wanted to speak to the financial support team. I mean lets be realistic, if more and more people cannot afford there mortgages, they will fall into arrears, default and then what? Houses will be repossessed. Its a financial crash in the makings and no one seems to understand how bad it is. We need a competent government asap.

I believe it's about time MP's salaries need to go and they are put on an hourly rate, expenses accounts removed & the £300 pound a day you get for turning up at the house of Lords abolished, we also need to have a say on the cost of the royal family & a vote to have them, no one voted for royalty or this Tory government at least the PM, I'm sure all of the above will focus their minds & a solution will be found
