Tommy Wiseau is great filmmaker and the room is his art . Very great film he work hard on. Keep in mind that disaster artist is a comedy film and Tommy is a serious bigshot Hollywood actor. furthermore I hate it when people say room is worst movie ever as it have many theatrical elements all in one and beautiful idea. The Disaster Artist was just okay, but I find the scenes with Josh Hutcherson in it to be the funniest ones. There's just something really meta about seeing him there. His character seems to be very aware that he's not the actor that plays Denny, but some kind of body double who looks nothing like Denny other than for his height and his ridiculous bobblehead wig. It's beyond absurd.

I keep hearing in interviews that Franco directed this movie while staying in character but I just watched some b-roll footage of "The Disaster Artist" and it doesn't seem like he's in character while he's directing. I guess it does make for a good story in interviews like this.
