Closest I've ever been to a CH-47 was driving down the I-5 freeway in Burbank CA and two Chinooks with refueling rods and black paint schemes (I'm thinking 160th SOAR?) came thundering down the freeway headed north while I went south. Super cool

Deployed from them a few times, totally awesome piece of kit and they come over my house quite regular, Lately at night which is pretty rare. Great video 👍🏻

Nice, wonderful footage you lucky man. Aren't they a treat. We're very lucky to have RAF Chinooks and Pumas occasionally visit us at Norwich Airport or wider Norfolk. It makes for exciting channel content for me to share with my subscribers.

Must be one of the most recognisable sounds in aviation

Great film work actually. Landscape, well cropped, no commentary needed, camera filming the subject.

My cottage is on a flight path between CFB Borden and CFB Trenton.

I swear the dishes rattle in the cupboards when the CH-47s go over low and fast 😅👍

Within a valley they sounds so much louder than it seems they are here. Also epic to see them fly low. I’ve seen them within a few hundred feet about our town but not his low. Made me feel like life was picturesque to have moments of epicness when they randomly fly over on a beautiful day enjoying childhood. Much nostalgia.

Nice, they are an impressive Aircraft up close and personal.
The best flyby I ever saw was over Weymouth Bay but towards the airfield at Portland when I was working there in the Nineties. A pair of American F111 Bombers came low from the east weaving from side to side at about a hundred feet and Blatted over the runway. The noise was incredible.

Where I work we get a team of attack helicopters fly over en route to wherever no more than 50 metres off the deck but the noise they make is incredible feels like they will shake the whole building apart.
Occasionally we get low flying Typhoons but they're a bit higher just cruising and they're beautiful as well.

I do a lot of work in Lyme and you can see them come from Portland hugging the coast, all along Lyme bay

Love those Chinooks. One landed at our high school athletic field with a CH-53 40 years ago. When they took off a few hours later that Chinook thumped our entire campus like an earthquake. It was bad-ass.

That's not something you see every day. I used to call them Rhinocopters because they look as tough as a rhinoceros. Great video. 👍
